Fed: Plan for cabbies to sell GST could backfire NTAA
A tax association has questioned plans to enlist taxi drivers to help educate the public
on the GST.
National Tax and Accountants' Association president RAY REGAN says many cabbies oppose
the tax they're supposed to be selling.
And he says he's bemused by how the Australian Tax Office can expect taxi drivers to
promote a 10 per cent price rise to customers.
Mr REGAN says many taxi drivers consider the GST to be the final nail in the coffin
of their industry and will be far from keen to promote the new tax.
